Each Minnesota branch newsletter has the name of a tree, and Duluth’s is called The Lob Tree. What is a lob tree? Old time voyageurs adopted a Native custom by lopping (or lobbing) prominent trees just below the top to be signposts along canoe routes.
The Lob Tree has been published on and off for decades. After a hiatus, it was revived in July 2020 as an online quarterly newsletter.
