Since 1881, the national organization has worked to improve the lives of millions of women and girls by promoting education and equity. AAUW has over 170, 000 members and supporters and 1,000 branches nationwide. In the last 130 years, AAUW has funded 12, 000 women and projects through fellowships and grants worth over $100 million.
